Understanding Indonesian
Workers In Singapore
An Indonesian Maid is a Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) specifically recruited from Indonesia. These helpers are widely preferred by Singaporean employers due to their reputation for being patient, respectful, and dedicated to household duties. Many Indonesian maids possess a natural aptitude for caregiving—including infant and elderly care—and often share cultural and linguistic similarities with Singaporean families, making the integration process into the household smoother.
A Reason That Offers
Trust & Reliability
Native Bahasa Indonesia speakers find it easy to communicate with Malay-speaking families. Most also undergo basic English training.
Renowned for patience and respect towards elders, making them the #1 choice for elderly care.
Familiar with spices and cooking styles similar to Singaporean cuisine (Rendang, Curry, Stir-fry).
Known for being hardworking, humble, and willing to take on general housekeeping duties.

At 114 Maids, we strive to make the
transfer process seamless and stress-free
Register for a verified account on our website to view full biodata and profiles of available transfer helpers. Due to MOM regulations, detailed profiles and photos are only accessible via a secure login. Select the candidates that best match your household needs.
We will coordinate with the helper and their current employer (if applicable) to schedule an interview. We highly recommend a face-to-face interview at our agency, or a video call if preferred, to ensure the right fit.
Once you have selected a helper, we will proceed with the service agreement and employment contract. We will require your details (via Singpass) to submit the Work Permit application to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Once MOM grants the In-Principle Approval (IPA), we coordinate the official transfer date. Your new helper can then legally and smoothly start working for your family.
We ensure the helper completes her 6-monthly medical examination (if due). Once all formalities are cleared and the work permit is issued, we arrange for the official handover and deployment to your home.
Hardworking, patient, and culturally familiar helpers—available for immediate selection.

Everything You’ve Been
Wondering About Indonesian Helpers
Hiring from Indonesia may involve specific processing fees mandated by the Indonesian Embassy (such as specific employment contracts) and standard MOM fees. At 114 Maids, we provide a single, transparent quote that covers the agency fee, insurance, airfare, and medical screening so there are no surprises.
Fresh Helpers: Usually undergo basic English training before arrival. They can understand simple instructions but may need patience during the first few months.
Ex-Singapore/Ex-Abroad: Typically have a much better command of English and can manage independent grocery shopping and phone calls.
Bonus: If your family speaks Malay, an Indonesian helper is often the best choice as Bahasa Indonesia and Malay are very similar, bridging the communication gap immediately.
Yes, Indonesian helpers are widely considered the top choice for elderly care in Singapore. They are culturally known for being patient, respectful toward seniors, and soft-spoken. Many candidates specifically request to care for Ah Gong or Ah Ma because they view it as a noble duty.
While their native cuisine is different, Indonesian food shares many similarities with Singaporean cooking (spices, stir-frys, curries). Most helpers are eager to learn.
Tip: If you hire an “Ex-Singapore” Indonesian maid, she will likely already know how to cook local Chinese dishes like soups, steamed fish, and stir-fried vegetables.
This is the most common concern for Chinese employers.
The Reality: While they generally do not eat pork, many Indonesian helpers are willing to handle, cut, and cook pork if they are provided with gloves and separate washing utensils.
Our Process: We specifically filter candidates based on this requirement. We will only recommend helpers who have explicitly agreed to handle pork during the interview stage.
You do not need to buy expensive Halal-certified takeout daily. You simply need to respect their “No Pork/No Lard” diet. Most helpers are happy with chicken, fish, vegetables, and eggs. You can allow them to cook their portion separately before you add non-Halal ingredients to the family meal.
MOM regulations require one rest day per week.
Compensation: However, many employers and helpers mutually agree to “buy off” the off days. If the helper agrees to work on her rest day, she must be compensated with at least one day’s salary.
Flexibility: You can negotiate a schedule (e.g., 2 off days a month and 2 compensated days).
